this week has been great. jerez esta en progresando. i really wanted to capitalize jerez, but like i said, this keyboard... definitely not returning to this cyber again.. it wont let me cap any letter... good luck reading this. haha
anyway, i hope that all is well with you. it was great to receive your letters. happy anniversary jen and ryan11111. i cant believe that it has been one year. woohoo. ok these periods are just not exciting... sorry..
well i have taken some pretty great steps this week. the first, is i have officially graduated from the small ponytail holders to the thick ones. my hair is growing. yay. The second great step is that my companion told me that i dont talk like a baby anymore. woohoo. i am finally a spanish speaker. yay.
we are super excited for wednesday. we are going to the wedding of familia luna. they are getting married on wendesday and the following saturday is her baptism date. we are so excited for them. i seriously love this family so much. it is sad, because we cant visit them often because they live almost an hour away. but they are seriously amazing
so remember the clown that we contacted in the bus? well, it turns out he is a member. we invited him to come to church and surprisingly he came. he was super happy and told us that he wants to turn his life around. he asked for a blessing and stayed after church for the baptism we had of a little eight year old girl. it was super great.
so we had the most interesting lesson ever. we met this 21 year old muchacho while we were eating lunch with a member. we invited him to sit with the family, while we gave the lesson. he was super awesome. really interested and had great comments. we asked if we could visit him again. he said yes, and gave us is address, yay. he lives in our area. we were super excited. the next day we went to visit him. we had plans to bring a member with us, but the plans fell through and he couldn't come. we cant go inside without another female. we went over to his house anyway to see if his mom was home. well, she wasnt, she was teaching a class for the catholics or something. so we stayed outside like good missionaries. we asked if we could share a lesson with him in the doorway. not ideal, but oh well. anyway. during the lesson he told us that he likes to sing to invite the spirit. he asked if we wanted to listen to a song. we told him yes, but after the lesson. he must not have heard that last part, because he ran to get his guitar. he came back and started singing about the holy ghost and santos and who knows what else. the song lasted for about 7 minutes. as i have mentioned before, mexicans have many great gifts, but singing is not one of them. it was the most terrible thing i have ever heard. i had to pray so hard not to laugh. when he finally finished, we thanked him and continued reading the verse that was interrupted. all of a sudden he started singing and playing his guitar again. what in the world?? it finally ended and then he said, oh wait i have another one. before we could object, la la la again. it was seriously terrible. and the faces he was making while singing. oh i just couldnt handle it. i had to stare and the ground and pray and pray that i wouldnt laugh. finally we ended the lesson, and i invited him to say the closing prayer. why was i not surprised when he started playing the guitar again?? the prayer was really pretty, but this dramatic background music was just too much. i started laughing. i hid my face with my hair, and dug myself with my nails to try to stop. his prayer was longer than the first song, then he ended with antoher loud finale song. turns out he is super catholic and doesnt want to read, just sing with us.
its super ironic because i was talking about how i think it is awkward when guys want to sing to girls, especially when they cant sing. and here we are the next day with this experiences. its my fault for not talking about missionary work. never again. ha ha
an investigator read me a quote the other day that i loved. it says. dont forget to pray this day, because God didnt forget to wake you up this morning. we always need to pray to our heavenly father and give him thanks for all the blessings he gives us. i love it.
love you lots. i am going to try to send fotos finally.
love hermana anderson
