Apr 13, 2015: Left as a Little Girl, Coming home as an Adult! Thanks for the Happy Birthday Wishes :)

Tani's facebook post on Ashley's Birthday :)
Hi Family!!

This has been another great week!

Due to the fact that i have been sick, i have lost some weight. I weighed myself on Friday. I weigh 55 kilos, but after my birthday i am so sure that i have gained it alllll back, plus some! Oh my gosh these members are incredible! I love them so much! They spoiled me on my birthday big time! :)

Elder Stevenson was the first one to wish me happy birthday. He called at 6:31. I was praying, and my comp answered. He started to sing in a total morning-voice the happy birthday song. haha it was super nice. My comp was all frustrated that he beat her. haha. She made me a really sweet note, and said, if i couldn't be the first to wish you happy birthday, i will be the first to give you a gift! haha

We were super excited because the Elders had a baptism on Saturday! Martha has been with the missionaries FOREVER and finally accepted to be baptized! We were suuper excited for them! The baptism was really special. Her daughter was baptized about a month ago. She shared with us her testimony. It was really strong and so special to hear her talk about her mom.

After the baptism some investigadores surprised me with a birthday cake! They sang ¨las mañanitas¨ (their traditional birthday song) and then they sang in English too! I blew out the candles, ate a big bite with my face, and then cut the cake. All typical traditions here. It was vanilla with strawberries. They knew my favorite :) Super sweet!

Following the baptism

The awesome family who gave me the cake and gold hoops!  :)

Jessica gave me a big hug from you mom, and showed me your cute email! Thank you :)

After the cake, we went to look for some other people, then went to eat with Sister Aurora. PS she is absolutely amazing and i lover her so much! Anyway, she surprised me with a gift! She gave me a beautiful Mexican, hand-made shirt and some bubble gum because she knows how much i loved that bubble gum tape when i was a little girl. She also made me some really pretty bracelets. Super thoughtful! Then she prepared a super delicious meal! We ate beef with cheese and potatoes, with a carrot cream soup, bread, and to top it all off my favorite dessert! Flan and cheesecake! Oh my gosh it was soo yummy! We suffered to eat it all! ha ha we were dying! I had to pass some of my food to Elder Marquez.

Birthday dinner

I received many messages and phone calls too! Even from Hermana Leo´s dentist. haha
(Tani:  K, that is hysterical! She's spent the past four P-days in his office while her companion was in the chair. Hahaha!)

After that, The Bishop and Jessica invited us over. They put up balloons and went all the way to the other end of the city to buy the yummiest cheeseburgers, tres leche cake and strawberry jello! oh man it was good! They sang again, and i did all the fun traditions again with them :) They are soo sweet!

The little Hernandez boys :)

Celebrating with the Hernandez Family :)

At church i was also told by everyone happy birthday! Hermana Mari (Oscar´s wife) made me a bracelet and some earrings, Hermana Coco bought me a Barbie box with some big gold hoops. She said i dont know if you like Barbie, but you look just like her! haha

It is such a blessing to be a part of this incredible ward. They are so amazing. it is so weird that i am 21.. now i can have my gun license! Woohoo!! I told the Bishop that, he got all nervous. hahah

Sheesh i am spoiled. :)

Oh, I almost forgot, it hailed on my birthday!  It was so crazy!  My companion was totally freaking out! haha.

We have been working a lot with Mayela and Luis. Mayela is 12 and Luis 10. Mayela is suuper shy, she wants to get baptized, but i think she wants to wait for her cousin Luis. Luis wants more than anything to be baptized but his mom wont let him. He comes every week to church in a suit! He is the cutest ever. He even shared a message for Family Night. Tomorrow we invited his mom to join us for Family Night. We have been praying and fasting that she will be able to soften her heart and let him be baptized. It would be a miracle of miracles.

We have been visiting little Silvia. She is the sweetest little lady. She can't see well, so she reads her scriptures with a huge magnifying glass. It is so cute to watch her read. :) When the other Elders from the other ward saw her husband at church they were shocked! He told me that they had contacted him before and he wanted absolutely nothing to do with the church and now, not only has he accepted us in his home, but he is coming to church! Super cool.

a little drama for the day...
Hermana Leo and Elder Marquez had a little discussion about women vs. men. It got a little heated for awhile! Elder Stevenson and i just laughed and listened. Then Elder Marquez said something ridiculous, so just to tease him a little bit (as i do best) i asked him, if that is true, then why do the apostles say ¨behind every good man is a better woman¨? He got all frustrated. We just laughed. Then we went to the Bishops house to eat. Elder Stevenson mentioned the quote during his lesson, and to my surprise the bishop said that he doesn't agree! What?? Elder Marquez was all happy. Then the Bishop said, No, she is not behind, she is right next to. ha! Love that! :)

Today we went to the church and played volleyball and basketball. I helped my team twice! Woo hoo! Still stink and sports, but it was super fun. :) We didn't have a volley ball so we played with a soccer ball. Oh man my arms are going to fall off! it is a lot heavier!  I got a little sun burned... We bought pizza afterward and all sat and ate. Good day! I am super tired.

Here are some pics of the week!

I am so happy!!

Love you lots fam!!
