Feb 18: Happy Valentines' Day!

Happy Valentines Day!

On Saturday the theme was marriage. Everyone we talked to, what my companion studied in the morning, Stake Conference etc. Honestly i forgot at first what day it was, but as soon as i stepped outside there was no problem remembering until i got back home. ha ha. Even the bishop and his wife shared with us their story of how they met. We were about to leave and he asked us if anyone was waiting for us, I told him, well we don't have any citas fijas but we need to continue on. (which in Spanish citas is appointments or dates). He looked confused and then we all started to laugh. He meant anyone waiting for us to return home from the mission, i thought he was talking about the people here. haha. i think writing it down isn't as funny, but believe me, it was super funny at the time!

I hope that you love birds had a great day :) i am looking forward to reading your letters! Mom and Dad, Jen and Ry. Em how was it with the pooch? Did he give ya lots of love? ;)

Well it has been a full week! Adolfo still is in the hospital. The members have been so helpful visiting him almost every day. The Bishop and his counselors went and gave him a blessing, the next day they found the problem! He had an infection in his kidneys. There was a lot of extra liquid which went to his brain which caused him to loose his memory. He has been recovering very nicely! I know that the priesthood is power from God as it says in DyC 121:36, it is connected to the heavens. Our prayers have been answered. Hopefully he will be able to come home in the next few days. It has been a good experience for his daughter too. She has been living in the hospital with him. She was very grateful for the help that we could offer her.

I ate a taco this week. Pig intestines. I was nervous, but the lady gave me a free taco so that i could try it. With lots of salsa, cilantro and lime it was actually really good! who knew??

Things have been going so great with Jonathan. He is so excited for his baptism. His mom every once and a while gets nervous, but then feels better and so on.. She prayed to know if this is what he needs. Please pray for them that she will be able to receive their answer and have peace.

She said something interesting this week. We read a passage from the Book of Mormon which really helped her. She is a bible-lover and has a hard time accepting the Book of Mormon, but she said, wow, this book seems like it is written for these times. It makes more sense. It is so true! The Book of Mormon is written for US in THIS time. It is perfect.

Oscar is also really excited for his baptism! He has invited the whole world! He gave away all of his skeletons and the Virgin and put pictures of Jesus Christ in their place. Saturday was the last day for smoking. He needs to have two weeks without one cigarette. He is strong. I know that with Heavenly Father´s help, he can do this!!

Alicia´s brother passed away this week. We went to support them in the funeral. It is a lot different than what i have been to. Let me just tell you, it is so much happier if we understand the Plan of Salvation. Everyone was bawling and crying, Alicia was the most calm of them all. Of course she was sad, but she said i am at peace because i know that i can do the work for him. It is all OK. It was a sweet moment. I didn't see his body, because as you know that freaks me out, but my comp said that he looked good. (not sure how, seeing that his spirit is not with him, but that is what she said).

Stake conference was great! I really felt the spirit. It was awesome because i was able to see some members from Fresnos! It seems like everything is going well there. What a blessing to be able to meet so many people here. They all have such a huge part of my heart.

Well i love you all! I am so grateful to be here. I have really been learning so much. Something that has really been on my mind is the importance of not only trusting in the Lord, but being able to trust ourselves. We can do this! He will always help us. :) I have received a lot of answers to my prayers and i know that this is true.

Love you! Happy Week!
